I am sorry to create this post in what is probably the wrong section, but I cannot translate the forum text so I have no idea where to place this post

I am posting here because I bring greetings from Star Wars fans from across the world who would like to make contact with you to communicate and share our experiences of Star Wars fandom. I am the Base Liasion Officer and Council member of the Rebel Legion, an international Star Wars costuming club for the 'good guys' of the Star Wars universe, we have over 1700 members worldwide and are always growing and sharing the fun but would like to establish more international links - the reason for my contact here!

Welcome here It's great you found us. Actually our main interest isn't in costumes; although we're doing some, too. We're faithfully dedicated to Jedi style of fencing, or saberfighting, as we call it. Surely there are many who likes other sides of Star Wars universe, some reading books, others playing games, and all of us enamoured by Star Wars movies; but saberfighting is what really put us together. There are six branches in our Academy, five in Siberia and one in European part of Russia. We're training the year round and having the joint convention in August, called LightCon. Thats great - thank you for the welcome - it was hard for me to know where to post and what to say! If you want to move my posts to another area of the forum then please feel free - sorry for posting in the admin only section!

We too have many people who are interested in lightsaber fencing and the Jedi approach, we have a great group of people in Japan who do lightsaber re-enactment battles and are very skilled like yourselves.

When people get chance to travel across the world (which is not very often!) it is always good to know people in each country who share enjoyment of similar things. There is of course more to Star Wars than costumes of course, but personally I enjoy the costuming side of things most myself. Our group, the Rebel Legion, wear costumes as part of an approach to supporting the communities we live in by fundraising for charity, helping sick children with terminal illnesses and just using our costumes for a reason, aswell to have fun in making and wearing them.

Im glad to talk to you, as it is always good to meet people like you all online in a growing internet community, which often finds its way offline and allows people to meet up to.

There are a few Star Wars orientated groups at the moment who are trying to use this 'online' unity to meet others from across the world - one of them is the 'Star Wars Outer Rim Alliance' who have recently formed/unified groups in Turkey, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Greece, Brazil and many other places. Even though that is over ten years ago, we are still bringing together Star Wars fans....in the last year we have brought together SW fans from Malaysia, Japan, Phillipines, Taiwan and Australia to communicate with each other which has helped create some very good lasting relationships.

Although I am involved in what is generally a purely 'rebel' club, I also have a part in an imperial SW club too (as a clonetrooper)....so whether you love Vader or Kenobi, there is always fun to have and friends to make.

Aswell as loving the films themselves, its good like Tycho said, to concentrate on specific parts of SW that we enjoy - I love the idea of the lightsaber combat, much like the Japanese do. But until we started to talk to each other neither of us knew this. Now we share information and help each other.
